/ Our Story

A family, a fryer, and 25 years on Kings Highway.

HOOKS Calabash Seafood Buffet is a family-owned Myrtle Beach restaurant that has been feeding folks on the Grand Strand for more than 25 years. Our doors on N Kings Highway opened with a simple idea: bring the honest, generously-portioned Calabash-style seafood you'd find at the tiny fish shacks up the coast in Calabash, North Carolina — and serve it in a warm, family-friendly buffet where nobody leaves hungry.

Three generations of our family have worked this dining room. Our fryers still use the same cornmeal-flour dredge our grandfather taught us, the crab bar is still stacked all night long, and the desserts still come out of our own in-house bakery — banana pudding, peach cobbler, red velvet cake and all.

Over the years, we've served honeymooners, third-generation regulars, tour buses, wedding rehearsals, birthday parties, church groups, and — most importantly — families. If you ate here as a kid on a Myrtle Beach vacation, we'd love to see you bring your own kids in someday.

Everything about HOOKS is built to be dependable. The boats still come in every morning. The prime rib still gets carved in front of you on the weekend. And the snow crab legs are still included, every single day — with 120+ items on the buffet line, we're still one of the best values in Myrtle Beach.

What makes HOOKS different.

Family-owned

Not a chain, not a concept

Every decision in this dining room is made by the family that runs it. If something's not right on your plate, we hear about it — and we fix it.

Fried to order

Small batches, hot oil

Calabash seafood only works if it's fried fresh. Our fry cooks work the line all night, so the flounder that hits your plate hit the oil ninety seconds ago.

Local & seasonal

Carolina coast first

Whenever the boats and the season allow, we source shrimp, flounder, blue crab and oysters from the Carolinas. It matters, and you can taste it.

Southern hospitality

Treat you like kin

We're not the fanciest restaurant in Myrtle Beach — we're the friendliest. Come as you are, bring the whole crew, stay a while.

Value for families

Priced for the whole table

One flat price, kids' pricing, no per-item upcharges on crab legs, refills on soft drinks. Vacation dinners shouldn't break the bank.

Groups welcome

Buses, teams & tours

We've hosted everything from church groups to bachelorette parties to youth baseball teams. Call ahead for parties of 6+.
